9 Traditional Chinese Medicine Remedies for Freckles

  In some countries, freckles are considered cute, while in others they are seen as a skin problem. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that freckles occur when heat stagnates in the blood vessels, further exacerbated by wind-evil invasion, leading to a combination of wind and fire.   [Fang Yi]

  60g of buffalo horn, 30g each of Cimicifuga rhizome, Notopterygium root, and Saposhnikovia root, 15g each of Aconitum carmichaelii root and Angelica dahurica root, 30g of Rehmannia root, 15g each of Ligusticum chuanxiong rhizome, Carthamus tinctorius flower, and Scutellaria baicalensis root, and 6g of raw lic

  Grind each medicine into a fine powder, steam until cooked, and make into small pills. Take 10 grams each night with warm water.

  This formula dispels wind and clears heat, cools the blood and disperses blood stasis, and is effective in treating freckles.

  [Fang Ni]

  Take a quantity of cocklebur seeds. Grind the cocklebur seeds into powder, wash them, dry them, grind them into a fine powder, and store them in a bottle for later use. Take 3 grams after each meal, with rice water, 3 times a day.

  This formula is suitable for freckles caused by wind-evil attacking the face and disharmony of qi and blood.

  [Fang San]

  Prepared Rehmannia root 15g, Cornus officinalis and stir-fried Paeonia suffruticosa root bark 10g each, Poria cocos 12g, Dioscorea opposita 30g, Cimicifuga foetida, Aconitum carmichaelii, Asarum heterotropoides, Morinda officinalis 3g each, Glycyrrhiza uralensis 10g. Decocted in water and taken orally, one dose per day, divided into two administrations.

  This formula is suitable for freckles caused by kidney yin deficiency.

  [Fang Si]

  Take an appropriate amount of black morning glory seeds and an appropriate amount of egg white. Mix the two together and set aside. Before going to bed, apply the prepared black morning glory powder to your face and wash it off in the morning.

  This formula can both remove freckles and protect the skin.

  [Fang Wu]

  Take a quantity of Inula japonica flowers. Remove impurities, stems, and leaves from the flowers, sift out the soil, grind them into a fine powder, and use it to wash your face when needed.

  [Six-Fang]

  Ingredients: appropriate amounts of white sandalwood and rice flour. Grind the white sandalwood into a juice. To make the rice flour, soak cooked millet in ice water for five or six days until white foam appears, then filter it out and set aside.
