Recently, temperatures have been soaring, and many people have suffered from heatstroke. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause various physical discomforts, such as loss of appetite, headaches, dizziness, excessive sweating, weakness, and vomiting.
What should you do if you suffer from heatstroke? It is recommended to use the "four-character mantra": move, wipe, administer medicine, pinch, and provide first aid as soon as possible. Take the unconscious person to a regular hospital for treatment immediately.
Moving: Quickly move the patient to a cool, well-ventilated place, lay them flat, fan them with a fan or electric fan, and loosen their collar and belt to facilitate breathing and heat dissipation.
Wipe: Use cold water or diluted alcohol to wipe the patient's body. You can also use a towel wet with cold water or ice packs or ice cubes to place on the patient's neck, armpits, or groin and other areas with large arteries to help the patient dissipate heat.
When feeling unwell, take heatstroke remedies such as Rendan, Shidishui, or Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui in time, and drink plenty of lightly salted water.
Acupressure: If the patient is unconscious, press acupoints such as Renzhong (GV26) and Hegu (LI4) with your thumb. After regaining consciousness, the patient must rest quietly in a cool, well-ventilated place.
How to prevent heatstroke
1. Drink plenty of water, but avoid beverages containing alcohol or large amounts of sugar to prevent further loss of body fluids.
2. Pay attention to replenishing salt and minerals. If you have to do physical labor or strenuous exercise, drink at least 2-4 cups of cool, non-alcoholic liquid (500-1000ml) every hour.
3. Pay attention to diet and rest, eat less high-oil and high-fat foods, supplement with protein, vitamins and calcium, and eat more fruits and vegetables.
4. Wear appropriate clothing and apply sunscreen.
5. If you need to be outdoors, it is best to avoid the midday hours.
6. Try to stay indoors as much as possible. You can wash your face and wipe your body with cool water, or stay in an air-conditioned room.
7. When working in high-temperature environments, colleagues should pay attention to each other's health. If signs of heatstroke are observed, measures should be taken promptly.
