Goji berries are both food and medicine, nourishing the liver and kidneys and improving eyesight.

Goji berries are one of the 87 medicinal and edible herbs explicitly designated by the Ministry of Health. As a medicinal herb, goji berries possess certain medicinal properties and offer some supplementary therapeutic effects. In China, goji berries have many folk names, such as Gouqizi, Gouqi Hongshi, Gouqi Guo, Diguzi, Gouqieqie, and Hongerzhui. The name "goji" first appeared in the *Classic of Poetry* (Shijing) more than two thousand years ago. The Ming Dynasty pharmacologist Li Shizhen stated, "Goji is the name of two trees. Its thorns are like those of the *Gou* tree, and its stems are like those of the *Qi* tree, hence the combined name." Goji berries are a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine for nourishing the liver and kidneys. Traditional Chinese medicine often uses them to treat symptoms such as liver and kidney yin deficiency, lower back and knee weakness, dizziness, forgetfulness, and seminal emission.

Modern medical research has found that the polysaccharides and pigments in goji berries have excellent anti-fatigue and anti-tumor effects. Numerous studies have shown that goji berry polysaccharides promote immunity, have anti-aging, anti-tumor, free radical scavenging, anti-fatigue, anti-radiation, liver protection, and reproductive function protection and improvement effects. Meanwhile, many studies have demonstrated that goji berry pigments can enhance human immune function, prevent and inhibit tumors, and prevent atherosclerosis. Therefore, consuming goji berries in moderation not only adds a unique flavor to dishes but also nourishes the liver and kidneys, combats fatigue, and enhances immunity.

Additional reminder: Dietary therapy is only a supplementary treatment in daily life, so don't rely on it too much; if you feel unwell, please seek medical attention as soon as possible.
